THE OTHER LAND/ DUBAI/ UAE
THE OTHER LAND is a project about Maharishi area 2 and Al Quoz residential areas in Dubai. The neighborhood is located in the outskirts of Dubailand, where poor paid immigrants live in substandard conditions, often undocumented, working on the biggest entertainment destination in the world. The proposal is focusing on creating more human, inclusive and sustainable future of these neighborhoods, by developing the theme parks strategies of Dubailand further, and enlarging the biggest entertainment theme parks in the world. We are proposing new theme park destinations and attractions such as SLUMland, ECOMAFIAland, GLOBALMIGRATIONland , WARCITY, LABOURCAMPland to be included as new tourist destinations.
Case study in Romani neighborhood “ Faculteta” in Sofia
Roma neighborhoods are located on the outskirts of all the major cities in Bulgaria, including Sofia, Plovdiv, Bourgas, Shoumen, Stara Zagora and Sliven. Many of these communities are illegal in terms of their structure and occupation and are socially and physically isolated. The project will focus on developing new strategies for physical improvement of the unregulated and ethnically segregated neighborhood “Faculteta”, located in the outskirts of the capital of Sofia, Bulgaria. There are living more than 40 000 people, predominantly Romani, on an area of approximately 180 hectares. Most of the buildings are illegal and have severe issues of habitability and sanitation. The work will aim methods for legalizing of the tenure, improvement and maintenance of existing structures, improvement of the infrastructure and establishing a sustainable way for integrating positive and working conditions, using appropriate technologies and strategies, that are within the economic scale of the community’s internal capacity. The strategies were developed in collaboration with the Sofia’s municipalities and Roma’s NGO for better integration of the existing segregated neighborhood will be developed, that do not lead to the destruction of the existing neighborhoods and eviction of the people there.
A NEW INFRASTRUCTURE INNOVATIVE SOLUTION FOR LOS ANGELES, CA
The project proposes new urban typology, which redefines our conventional and preconceived idea about infrastructure and urban design. Our approach is exploring new ways of studying and integrating the infrastructure system into the rest of the city fabric as an integral part of the new building typology. It will redefine the framework of the current zoning separation in planning, introducing new interrelated multi-layers zones with new activities and experiences. Pedestrian circulation is located on separate layer from the automobile traffic. It enhances connectivity and encourages public transportation, biking and walking, alleviating the problem with traffic congestion. The new urban typology is informed not only by physical activities , but as well by perceptual ones, such as light, speed and noise, establishing new framework of design where physical and sensual experiences are important interrelated organizer of the spatial urban experience

Connected the discnnected/Nurnberg/Germany
Our proposal for the site in Sudstadt, Nuernberg re-imagines the traditional residential city block in Europe, as a versatile location that promotes integration, connectivity and social interaction, while offering more inviting public spaces to the urban ecology. The new structure offers a contemporary typology in the urban city block for the new Europe, where diverse lifestyles and cultures are encouraged to be celebrated and embraced; increasing great value to the evolving city. Instead of closing off the green space and eliminating public space by building the residential apartments on the periphery, we are strategically opening the block and amalgamate it with the rest of the city. The new connections, pathways, promenades and public spaces offer formal and informal temporal events, playgrounds, communal farming and exhibit spaces. These new engaging activities will reinvigorate life into the existing district, and add regional value and integrity. The new housing ill create mutual work and common spaces on the ground floor, where residents can host country thematic consultations, classes and discourses to the city and nearby municipalities of Nurnberg. This will complement the existing professional development classes offered by the Sudpunkt. To accommodate for various lifestyles, new co-housing typologies were created for residents to share common areas, such as kitchen, dining, living, and workspaces. The pliable floor plans adjust with ease for the interchanging demographic. Apartment layouts come with various room options, satisfying any personal preference. The diversity of events and culture will help generate a new quality of life for the district, turning it as an attractive and prosperous hub. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for the success of this new residential and cultural center.
